    FAQs

The standard fee for a 55-minute consultation is $130 for individuals from fully registered, insured, qualified counsellors. This is an average cost, well below the nationally recommended standard, which may be claimable on your private health fund. Specific services all require specialist training at the practitioner’s personal cost to bring you the client, the knowledge and skill needed to help you with your specific challenge.

The standard fee for NDIS clients is $156.16, as NDIS cases typically require more work for the therapist outside sessions. Larger reports or assessments for NDIS (and other external agencies) also attract a fee to cover the Practitioner’s time.

Couples and family therapy is $215 per 60-minute session and does not attract Medicare rebates. Family and couples therapy is any group of 2 or more people. Individual sessions form part of the couples therapy process and are costed at the same rate as couples due to administration times. When seeing a practitioner for couples therapy, you may be eligible for private health rebates for the joint sessions. Please, check with your private health insurer for their requirements and available rebates.

We require advanced EFT payment for video or phone sessions (your therapist will provide their bank details in an invoice before the session for payment). If you need an emergency appointment, we can usually accommodate you if you are willing to utilise tele-health.

If you cannot attend your appointments and cannot give 48 hours’ notice our cancellation policy will apply with outstanding amounts to be paid prior to rebooking. If you cannot make your session, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid disappointment. If you cancel late or do not attend, we have a $115 late cancellation fee per session, that will be applied to your account for collection.

Please pay with credit or with debit card or direct deposit as our preference. If cash is the only form of payment available to you then; Please note we do not keep cash or a float, so no change can be given, and a credit will be made to your account for your next session. If you would like this credit transferred electronically, please email your practitioner with your bank details and they will refund within 14 days. Please contact your practitioner directly to negotiate a discount, prior to your first appointment in writing 7 days in advance. PLEASE NOTE: We charge a $115 Did Not Attend (DNA) fee per appointment slot, if you don’t give us 48 hours (two business days) notice! If you need to cancel a Monday appointment, please do before the weekend. This applies to all appointments unless an NDIS service agreement states otherwise.

If you are insured with a Private Health Fund and have Extras, you may be eligible for rebates for therapy. To determine your eligibility, call your fund. They will outline your specific rebate entitlements: Please note all refunds will be post claimable through invoice once paid.

Your doctor can write you a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan that we will accept as a referral, and we will keep this in your records, however we do not offer a Medicare rebate on our individual sessions as Counsellors are not eligible for these rebates under the current medical rebates scheme. The quality of service to you is not diminished however as Counsellors carry similar qualifications to a provisional and general psychologist with a more holistic perspective. Your counsellor is available to explain this to you in session.

These are available upon request, and it is suggested for a couples and families initial session to make a 2 hour appointment to gather multiple peoples information.

Please call New Farm Wellness Centre on 07) 3358 2982 or email [email protected] to book an appointment, or book online at https://my.powerdiary.com/clientportal/ehlqo.
We recommend booking 4 to 6 fortnightly sessions if you’d like regular appointments. Short term therapy is 12-20 sessions.

    • GP referral if you have one (ask your GP for a hardcopy)
    • Previous reports or information from parents, teachers, or other mental health personnel
    • Debit or credit card for payment
    • Private Health insurance information checked prior to session.
    • Intake forms will be emailed prior to your appointment to be completed and returned at least 48 hours before your appointment where possible!

    ## After you book, you’ll receive an Appointment Confirmation Email. It is super important that you complete the New Client Forms online before your first session. This allows your practitioner to prepare to see you and to minimise paperwork on the day. These online forms are https secure and uploaded to your client file. The link to our New Client Intake Form was sent to your preferred email address. Please check spam/junk files before reaching out. You will also receive text reminders, sent to your preferred mobile of your appointment date and time. Please confirm these when received.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us 48+ hours’ notice to avoid disappointment. Find your booking notification email and use the Cancellation link in that email. If you cannot find your booking email and you wish to cancel or change your appointment, call Reception on (07) 3358 2982 or email [email protected] ASAP to avoid the late cancellation fee.

Rude and aggressive behaviour towards anyone, staff or other clients is unacceptable. We cannot see clients who are aggressive towards any of our team or who turn up to their session obviously intoxicated.
